About Us

The original Parkend Silver Band was formed by the amalgamation of Blakeney & District and Two Bridges bands and was called the Parkend Silver Prize Band. We are not sure exactly when but they disbanded sometime in 1969. Then Tony Higgins & Keith Bowery got together & decided to start the present band in 72. Over the last 47 years, the band has enjoyed entering contests such as the GBBA Entertainment and Test Piece Contests, Stroud Brass Band Festival, Hungerford, Hereford Festival and others, achieving good results for many. We have decided to concentrate on entertaining the public so we do not contest at the moment.

The band has done two tours to Cornwall where we were hosted by Illogan Sparnon Silver Band, we did concerts on Portreath & Newquay sea fronts along with massed Band concerts with Illogan Sparnon, Carharrack & St Day & Newquay Silver.

If you are interested in learning a brass instrument why don't you pop along or call us for further information? We rehearse every Tuesday from 7.00 p.m. to 9.00 p.m. and the occasional Friday at Parkend Memorial Hall.
